UKVI now rates every UK university and college that sponsors international students as Red, Amber or Green. The rating applies to compliance assessments from June 2026. It is based on three measures: visa refusal rate, enrolment rate and course completion rate. To be rated Green, a university needs a visa refusal rate below 4%, an enrolment rate of at least 96% and a completion rate of at least 92%. Amber and Red ratings lead to UKVI action against the university. Ratings are published on the Register of Student Sponsors, so check before you choose where to study.
